Caz Hyde Brown – June 2015
Caroline was our last speaker of the year and told us all about her career as a fashion and fabric designer for interiors. She did a degree in Textiles and fine Art graduating in 1995 and from then on focused on combining painting with embroidery and worked freelance for Liberty, John Lewis and the Japanese store Takashimaya. She showed us pictures of delicately embroidered cushions lampshades and wall hangings. She had also brought some of her more recent work this was beautifully textured and embroidered.
In 2002 she was selected on behalf of National British Craft to travel and work across the east and west coast of Japan, exhibiting her work alongside the Princess Diana Althorpe Collection. This was a wonderful experience and has clearly influenced her work.
Since these heady days Caroline has started a family and opted for a quieter professional life until her daughter starts school then I have no doubt there will be more embroidery, painting and possibly creative writing on the horizon.
Caroline was an excellent speaker and can be contacted on firstname.lastname@example.org
