Alison Nash – Beaded Embroidery

Workshop June 2015Alison 12

I think it is fair to say that Alison is an expert in extreme beading. She brought with her a wide range of her own work, including 3D hedgehogs, stunning collars and jewellery and the most wonderful circular panel about 20 inches in diameter. Her work includes the use of Cabochons, those vibrant glass stonesAlison 10 that tempt you at bead fairs even though you have no idea what you will do with them because they have no holes in them for chains or thread.

The technique used for attaching them was central to the workshop and the whole room went quite as we concentrated on threading and stitching size 11 and 15 beads round the stone in a alison 13sort of colourful cradle. Once the cabochons are attached the rest of the panel is filled in to your heart’s desire with all types of beads in patterns leading off from the central pieces. Each of us chose a possible project idea to attach the panel to such as a bag, collar or book. Alison had brought a wide selection of beads and cabochons for us to buy and we all had a lovely time selecting. She taught us useful techniques for edging and stitching the beads and it was a lovely day full of good company and beautiful beads.

Alison can be contacted via her web site which is worth a look at or by telephone on 01747 835941
